ARE YOU UNDERFUELING?

Signs You're Not Fueling Well as an Athlete

  • Feeling sluggish and struggling to dig deep to find some energy to power you through tough training sessions and games?

  • Always getting injured or feeling under the weather?

  • Not seeing performance improvements and gains in the gym?

  • Period MIA?

  • Not feeling well rested and recovered after a workout?

These are all signs you’re not meeting all your fueling needs as an athlete.

It could mean you simply aren’t eating enough, or not eating enough of the right things. Whether it's from intentionally restricting calories/food groups or you're just not sure what you need to eat in a day to fuel well as an athlete.

Whatever the case may be, not meeting your energy and nutrient needs as an athlete negatively affects your performance and also comes with a slew of other nasty side effects like:

  • Reduced energy

  • Loss of muscle mass

  • Increased risk of injury

  • Loss of bone mass

  • Dehydration

  • Decreased strength

  • Delayed recovery

  • Increased anxiety/depression

  • Decreased concentration & coordination

If any of this sounds like you, rest assured these are pretty common issues Sports Dietitians address with their athletes and clients.
